In the building academy I have been learning about how to build a basic standard van shed. Being able to start from planning to actually building the shed. As we first found the area where to put the shed we had to make sure the concrete slab was level with each other. We then started on the planning and are almost finished with the designs. We are heading over to ITM Bay Of Islands in Haruru on Friday to order all the timber we need as well as the materials. Once we have this all sorted and ordered we will make a start.
I am a student in the Building Academy at Bay of Islands College in Kawakawa, New Zealand. My blog is a reflection of my learning and professional work experience.

Soft skills
I am good at adapting to anything that is given to me, whether it's a job with hands on or whether it's about a writing task. I am able to adapt and get the work done. Well as an adaptor, I am a flexible person by having the will of being able to work anywhere with anyone. The main thing that tops me off is being a great communicator. I believe I am a good communicator because I am able to communicate with everyone and anyone and break things down so people would understand on their level.

Van Shed
Kia Ora, for the past few weeks the year 13 students and I have been creating a plan of the van shed that we are making. We are designing our van shed out of the steel frame of a shipping container. We have just finished drawing the plans which includes, what size wood we need, how many nogs/studs we need and what extra parts we need to add to the roof. We have then finished our cutting list and order form so we can send that off to ITM Bay of Islands in Haruru and receive the materials we need.
Here is my Order Form & Cutting List
